1. Main Functions
The Accountant is primarily responsible for performing day-to-day financial activities and providing support to the Finance Manager, Director, and Council when required. This includes:
1.1 Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly financial reports up to the trial balance stage.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements.
- Conduct reconciliations of bank statements and accounts payable/receivable.
1.2 Billing and Collections:
- Ensure that all practices are billed accurately in line with contractual obligations.
- Manage and collect outstanding debts in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor billing processes to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
1.3 Support and Collaboration:
- Assist the Finance Manager, Director, and Council with special projects as directed.
- Maintain and update financial reports and statistical information.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless financial operations.
1.4 Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
1.5 Financial Systems Management:
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Pastel, and other financial accounting systems to perform financial tasks.
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements in financial software and tools.
2. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
2.1 Accuracy and Timeliness:
- Deliver accurate financial reports by the set deadlines.
- Maintain error-free billing and collection processes.
2.2 Debt Collection:
- Achieve monthly and quarterly targets for debt collection.
- Reduce the outstanding debt ratio in line with company goals.
2.3 Reconciliation:
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations with zero discrepancies.
- Ensure all accounts are reconciled and balanced accurately.
2.4 Efficiency in Financial Operations:
- Demonstrate proficiency in using financial accounting systems.
- Implement improvements to streamline financial processes.
2.5 Communication and Support:
- Provide effective support to the Finance Manager and team members.
- Maintain open and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
3. Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting systems.
- Proven track record in financial reporting, analysis, and debt collection.
- Experience in working independently and collaboratively within a finance team.
- Familiarity with billing practices and compliance with financial regulations.

5. Qualifications
5.1 Education:
- BCom Accounting Degree (or equivalent recognized degree).
- Alternatively, a financial diploma or combination of after-school certificates totaling 3 years.
5.2 Additional Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Computer literate: MS Office, Financial Accounting System, and Pastel.
