Management Accountant  Windhoek

1.Main Function

The Management Accountant is accountable for overseeing the Finance Department's operations and ensuring efficient management of financial functions within the Company. This role involves leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes. The Management Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, managing debt collection, overseeing accounting functions up to trial balance (TB) level, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and taxation requirements.

 

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Financial Planning and Management:

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
  • Prepare and analyze profit and loss forecasts.

2.2 Creditors and Debtors Management:

  • Oversee and manage creditors and debtors departments.
  • Supervise debt collection efforts.

2.3 Accounting and Reconciliation:

  • Manage and review the accounting function up to TB level.
  • Conduct thorough monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

2.4 Audit and Financial Reporting:

  • Lead the annual external audit process; liaise with external auditors and finalize the audit within 2 months after year-end.
  • Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with applicable financial reporting frameworks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in alignment with industry standards and company policies.

2.5 Taxation and Compliance:

  • Oversee taxation compliance and liaise with relevant authorities to maintain good standing.
  • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.

2.6 Collaboration and Cross-functional Engagement:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve business objectives.

 

3.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timeliness and accuracy of financial reports and statements.
  • Efficiency and effectiveness of the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Successful completion of the annual audit process within the set time frame.
  • Compliance with financial policies, procedures, and taxation regulations.
  • Effectiveness of debt collection and management of creditors and debtors.

 

4.Experience

  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing debt collection and overseeing accounting functions.
  • Experience in conducting balance sheet reconciliations and managing external audits.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and taxation compliance.

 

5.Skills

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (experience with MDA/Property Central and Caseware is advantageous).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

 

6. Qualifications

  • Management Accounting Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Completed audit articles are an added advantage.
