1. Main Function of the Role

The primary role of the Cashier is to process cash, debit, credit, and check transactions using a point-of-sale (POS) system in a retail environment. This role also involves ensuring customer satisfaction through effective handling of inquiries and complaints, maintaining accurate financial transactions, and contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the store.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

• Transaction Processing
  • Accurately handle cash, debit, credit, and check payments.
  • Ensure proper documentation of invoices and credit notes daily.
• Customer Service
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and ensure a positive sales experience.
• Inventory and Stock Control
  • Participate in stock-taking activities as required.
• Store Operations and Maintenance
  • Perform general housekeeping of the store and premises.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and security regulations.
• General Duties
  • Assist with other responsibilities related to the role of a Cashier as necessary.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

• Valid Grade 10/12 certificate with at least 23 points.
• 1-2 years of practical experience in a similar role.
• Namibian citizenship is a prerequisite.
