Astral Operations is a key player in the agriculture industry and is seeking an experienced Logistics and Distribution manager for the Group.  Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will have the total responsibility for the leadership and management of the outbound logistics, performance of the distribution network, organization and procedures, stock and delivery accuracy, stock returns, month-end activities, keeping the logistics cost within the approved budget, identify cost saving opportunities, continuous improvement of the logistics processes and procedures and improving internal control procedures.

This position will have the accountability of anyalysing logistics trends, market conditions and customer requirements to identify opportunities for improvements, coordinate and manage the transportation and warehousing of goods and materials. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and third-party logistics providers, negotiate contracts, pricing and terms with suppliers, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to transportation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications

• A completed BComm Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain Management
• A post-graduate diploma in Supply Chain Management / Logistics will be an added advantage

Skills

• Proficiency in logistics software, MS Office, with advanced MS Excel​
• Business acumen;
• Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing and stock control;
• Financial and analytical capabilities;
• Commercial and contractual negotiations;
• Excellent communication skills and relationship building;
• Strategic Management;
• Strong sales, marketing and product quality control knowledge
• The ability to Identify and implement business opportunities & solutions

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years's experience in a supply chain managerial role within the FMCG industry
