The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

• Driving biosecurity audits and implementation of corrective measures.
• Overseeing and approving veterinary health programmes.
• Regularly monitoring and communicating production key performance indicators

(KPIs) to veterinarians and ensure implementation of appropriate interventions

• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations such as those by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD).
• Maintaining a disease-free-status of selected pathogens on grandparent (GPs) flocks.
• Overseeing the maintenance of compartments of farms and hatcheries.
• Supporting diagnostics at Central Analytical Laboratories (CAL).
• Supporting the Commercial Division in terms of growth into new markets such as export.
• Managing meat safety-related concerns from the Commercial Division.
• Maintaining the registration of the Vaxxon range of strategic vaccines and manage the business relationship with Vaxxinova.
• Consolidating the veterinary section of Managing Director’s monthly report.
• The evaluation and exploration of global best veterinary practices in order to control both infectious and non-infectious diseases.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in veterinary science;
• Minimum veterinary experience of at least 4 years in commercial poultry production would be beneficial;
• Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
