County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, has this opportunity for a Handyman, based at the Fresh Processing facility in Epping, in the Western Cape.

The overall purpose of this position, is to uphold and maintain the health and safety standards in order to ensure the facility is compliant with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.  

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

• The Handyman must be well versed with the requirements of the South African National Standard (SANS) 10142 wiring code, to be able to assist the Electrician where required.
• To ensure that risk control standards are maintained
• To ensure that the 20 Keys program HACCP, Risk control, OHS Act, EFIS and all other audit requirements in the processing plant is adhered to at all times
• The Handyman must be present at start up and all start up procedures must be followed
• Ensuring that all shut-down procedures are adhered to after the end of the last shift of the week or before public holidays
• To liaise with the Electrician regarding outstanding maintenance, projects, time keeping, safety matters, security and all other matters that is related to the maintenance team

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of a completed Grade 12 qualification
• Computer literacy (MS office)
• Have excellent problem-solving skills and able to work to strict deadlines
• Have the ability to work well under pressure and timeously resolve all queries
• Must be able to work independently and apply best / safe practices at all times
