Astral, a leading South African integrated poultry producer, has Millwright (Refrigeration) opportunity at County Fair, Primary Processing Plant Fisantekraal.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on the plant
• Attend to breakdowns on relevant machines, in dedicated areas
• Electrical and mechanical maintenance
• Attend to electrical and mechanical breakdowns of plant and machinery
• Dismantle, move, assemble, install and align equipment and machinery
• Ensure electrical reticulation is maintained in good working order
• Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment
• Fault finding and repairs in Ammonia plant
• Repair basic electrical circuitry and components and testing of units to evaluate electrical and mechanical operation
• New installations, modifications, upgrades and repairs to machinery and systems
• Maintain plant and equipment in a safe and acceptable overall condition
• Search & rescue in Refrigeration plant room in the unfortunate in the Ammonia release
• Standby for Foreman & Operators when necessary 
• Implementing of 20 Keys/ HACCP/ Risk Control and apply general housekeeping rules

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Millwright/ Electrical/ Refrigeration Trade Certificate (Section 13 and served apprenticeship)
• Minimum N4 qualification in the relevant field
• Wiremen’s license will be advantageous
• PLC and VSDs certificate and experience will be advantageous
• Previous experience in a refrigeration plant, ammonia plant exposure will be a distinct advantageous
• Must be a team player but able to work with minimal supervision
• Willing to work shifts and overtime
• Fluent in English and an additional official language
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer literate 
• Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment and deadline driven
• Must have own reliable transport
