Verification Officer- Weighbridge Technician

Experience

The successful incumbent must have at least two (2) years' experience as technician within the weighbridge industry.

Formal qualifications

  • Matric (with mathematics and science) or N2 mathematics and science
  • Certificate of Appointment in terms of Section 8(1) of the Legal Metrology Act with following measuring instrument categories: MA1 MA3 TLE1 MB2
  • Certificate of Registration as Repairer in terms of Section 10(1) of the Legal Metrology Act with following measuring instrument categories: MA1 MA3 TLE1 MB2
  • Valid driving license code 14
  • Own transport 
  • A valid medical certificate certifying the incumbent’s fitness status to work
  • Competency with all Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access and Project)
  • Competency with Google App Suite will be advantageous              
  • Experience with Pastel                                  

Responsibilities

As verification officer:                     

  • Assistance with implementation, control and management of management system
  • Assistance with conducting internal audits and corrective actions            
  • Performance of verification work in terms of the requirements of the Legal Metrology Act and Regulations and any relevant specifications applicable to the verification procedure                      
  • Assistance in verification planning and result evaluation                  
  • Applying verification procedures as prescribed by legislation                       
  • Applying the powers and duties as defined in Section 25 of the Legal Metrology Act
  • Participating in training to ensure the necessary skills, competency and experience as is expected from Verification Officers                       
  • Maintaining minimum qualifications, experience and expertise                       
  • Complying with measurement standards and Quality Management Systems           
  • Completing, signing and issuing of any certificates issued on behalf of the laboratory

As repairer:                     

  • Performing repair work in terms of the Legal Metrology Act's provisions                   
  • Assistance in planning of repair activities and evaluation of results            
  • Applying repair procedures according to legislative provisions                       
  • Applying the powers and duties as defined in Section 27 of the Legal Metrology Act
