Optimi is looking to hire a people-focused individual with a passion for HR to join our organisation as Head of HR. We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, understand diverse perspectives, and drive innovative solutions. The candidate’s primary focus will be to suggest and implement HR strategies and initiatives that are aligned with the overall organisational strategies, as well as to manage the HR team to ensure excellent HR delivery to the organisation.

REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor’s degree, specialising in HR/Industrial Psychology.
• Honours degree relevant to the position, or in business management (preferred).
• Five years of experience.
• Exposure to the education sector in South Africa.
• Experience with HR/payroll software.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

DUTIES

• Manage all aspects of the recruitment function.
• Manage monthly payroll process, including processing claims and updates, obtaining business approvals, and releasing payment on the scheduled payment date.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the employee engagement and development strategy, in line with best practices.
• Ensure relevant interaction with employees, including induction and onboarding, ongoing communication, events, surveys, and employee forums.
• Implement measures to drive diversity and inclusion, fostering a One Optimi Culture.
• Develop, maintain and communicate HR policies, in compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Implement initiatives to increase employee wellness and cohesive team culture and dynamics.
• Manage day-to-day processes, systems, tasks, projects, communication, and outputs of the department.
• Oversee budgeting and reporting processes for the department, including ongoing management and compliance of spend vs budget.
• Ensure accurate daily, weekly and monthly reporting, as required.
