Optimi is looking to hire an individual with subject knowledge and teaching experience in Grades 10-12 Engineering Graphics and Design and Grades 7-9 Technology to join the team as an Education Specialist. The successful candidate must be deadline-driven, adaptable to change, informed on the latest technological trends and learning materials, and able to suggest new ways of learning that will address the needs of distance education learners.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in education with specialisation in Engineering Graphics and Design
• A minimum of five years experience teaching at FET Level (Grade 10-12).
• Knowledge of CAD Software
• Computer literate in Microsoft Suite
• SACE registered
• Proficient in English and Afrikaans - verbal and written
• Knowledge of Robotics and Coding as a subject field and experience marking the National Senior Certificate examination would be beneficial.

DUTIES

• Manage quality assurance of allocated subjects.
• Set up assessment tasks and exam papers.
• Moderate assessment tasks in your field or related allocated fields.
• Develop digital content for the online portal.
• Apply and monitor the application of CAPS and the assessment requirements of the examination boards in the assessment tasks and/or facilitator’s guides.
• Manage client queries and communication for relevant fields of expertise, including email, telephone, and other modes of communication.
• Plan, prepare, and facilitate online lessons.
• Provide advice on possible improvements.
• Investigate, research, suggest, apply, and advise on new trends, products, and technologies relevant to the allocated phase(s) of education.
• Lead memorandum discussions and manage the EGD team of markers.
• Establish good relationships with EGD suppliers to ensure mutual understanding of business needs.
