Job Summary:

A cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the point of sale. They handle cash, credit, and debit payments, provide receipts, and ensure a smooth and friendly checkout experience. Cashiers also assist with customer inquiries, resolve minor complaints, and may support other retail tasks such as restocking shelves or maintaining cleanliness in the checkout area. The role requires strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and excellent customer service abilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:  Record and receive payment for goods purchased timeously and accurately Ensure valid credit cards are accepted to prevent fraud transactions Ensure zero unauthorized purchases are made on customer and staff accounts Provide excellent customer service by always informing customers regarding Specials & Promotions Assist with PPI

Educational Background and Experience:

Minimum Grade 11 (New Curriculum) or Grade 12(NSSC-O) with 22 marks Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cashier in computerized retail environment Must be a fluent communicator in English Computer Proficient – knowledge of the “Kerridge” computer system will be an advantage   We are looking for someone with: A young energetic candidate, with trustworthy traits and an enthusiastic attitude towards their work Excellent numeracy, language proficiency, assertiveness, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain a positive and professional image for M.
