1. Main Function of the Role

The Shelf Packer is responsible for ensuring that store shelves are fully stocked, neatly arranged, and clearly labeled to provide a pleasant and efficient shopping experience for customers. This role includes receiving deliveries, unpacking and stocking items, checking for damage or expiry dates, and assisting in maintaining overall store cleanliness and organization.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

  • Stocking & Labelling
    • Receive and unpack deliveries.
    • Accurately label and pack stock onto store shelves.
    • Monitor and maintain correct stock levels on shelves.
  • Stock Control & Inventory
    • Check for product damages or discrepancies.
    • Advise Supervisor on stock levels and shortages.
    • Participate in inventory checks and ensure timeous picking of stock.
  • Customer Assistance
    • Provide basic assistance to customers when required.
    • Ensure that shelves are tidy and product displays are attractive and accessible.
  • Housekeeping
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of store aisles and storage areas.
    • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations regarding food or product expiry and shelf maintenance.

 

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • Grade 11 (New Curriculum) or Grade 12 (NSSC-O) with a minimum of 22 marks.
  • Experience:
    • At least 6 months of experience in a similar role within the retail industry.
    • Experience in shelf display, stock rotation, and customer interaction is beneficial.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
