1. Main Function of the Role:

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all yard operations, ensuring smooth logistics, and optimizing efficiency within the department. This role requires strong leadership to manage yard staff effectively while maintaining high standards in stock control, vehicle maintenance, and customer service. The Yard Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of goods while adhering to company policies and procedures.

 

2. Key Performance Areas:

• Supervision & Staff Management:
  • Provide effective supervision to yard staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assign tasks and oversee daily yard activities to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Stock Control & Logistics Management:
  • Monitor and manage receiving logistics to prevent stock losses.
  • Implement and maintain proper stock management procedures.
  • Oversee the dispatching of stock to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Fleet & Maintenance Supervision:
  • Monitor the delivery fleet and ensure vehicles are well-maintained.
  • Coordinate necessary repairs and maintenance schedules for company vehicles.
• Customer Service & Satisfaction:
  • Maintain strong customer relationships by ensuring quality service and timely deliveries.
  • Address customer concerns related to yard operations in a professional manner.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum Grade 11 (New Curriculum) or Grade 12 (NSSC-O) with at least 22 marks.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Yard / Logistics supervisory position within the Building or Retail industry.
• Possession of a valid Code B Driver’s License.
