1. Main Function of the Role

The Cashier is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recording and receiving of payments for goods purchased. This role requires maintaining excellent customer service, preventing unauthorized purchases, and ensuring fraud prevention through the validation of credit cards and adherence to company policies.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

• Recording and receiving payments for goods with precision and timeliness.
• Validating credit card transactions to prevent fraudulent activities.
• Monitoring and ensuring zero unauthorized purchases on both customer and staff accounts.
• Delivering exceptional customer service by effectively communicating specials and promotions to customers.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of Grade 11 (New Curriculum) or Grade 12 (NSSC-O) with at least 22 marks.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Cashier in a computerized retail environment.
• Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills.
• Computer literacy, particularly knowledge of the "Kerridge" computer system, is advantageous.
