1. Main Function of the Role

The Cashier is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate recording and receipt of payments for goods purchased. The role demands strict adherence to fraud prevention protocols, exceptional customer service, and professional conduct to uphold the company’s standards.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

• Record and receive payment for goods purchased timeously and accurately.
• Ensure valid credit cards are accepted to prevent fraud transactions.
• Ensure zero unauthorized purchases are made on customer and staff accounts.
• Provide excellent customer service by always informing customers regarding Specials & Promotions.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Grade 11 (New Curriculum) or Grade 12(NSSC-O) with 22 marks. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cashier in computerized retail environment. Must be a fluent communicator in English. Computer Proficient – knowledge of the “Kerridge” computer system will be an advantage.
