1. Main Functions
The Repair Shop Assistant is responsible for providing excellent service, conducting both minor and major repairs on vehicles, and ensuring that all repair work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role requires a proactive approach to diagnosing vehicle issues, ordering and fitting the correct parts, and maintaining clear communication with the Team Leader and Foreman about the progress of ongoing work. Additionally, the Repair Shop Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the training and development of trainees.
1.1 Key Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of services and repairs on vehicles, both minor and major, ensuring quality workmanship.

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring accurate parts are ordered and fitted correctly.

Maintain clear and accurate records of work performed on job cards.

Provide continuous updates on vehicle progress to the Team Leader and Foreman.

Contribute to meeting production targets set by the repair shop.

Participate in after-hours standby duties as required.

Follow up on Work-in-Progress (WIP) to ensure timely completion.

Assist in training trainees, sharing knowledge, and fostering a learning environment.
2. Key Performance Areas
2.1 Service and Repairs: Deliver high-quality service and repair work on vehicles, meeting both company and customer expectations.
2.2 Accurate Reporting: Write and maintain detailed and accurate job cards and documentation for each vehicle serviced.
2.3 Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic skills to identify issues promptly and ensure correct parts are ordered and used.
2.4 Communication: Keep the Team Leader and Foreman updated on the status of repairs and any issues that may arise.
2.5 Target Achievement: Consistently meet production targets and contribute to the overall success of the repair shop.
2.6 Work-in-Progress Management: Monitor and manage ongoing repair work to ensure timely completion and delivery.
2.7 Training: Mentor trainees by sharing knowledge and practical skills, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
3. Experience
3.1 Educational Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Qualification in Automotive Mechanics
3.2 Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in motor mechanics and auto electrics
3.3 Licenses:
- Valid Namibian Citizenship
- Valid Driver's License
