Resource Efficiency Engineer - Sustainability & Waste to Value  Hammarsdale

Rainbow Chicken is currently recruiting for a Resource Efficiency Engineer to join their sustainability team.The role will be required to drive resource efficiency projects; including Water, Power and Waste initiatives as set out in our water and energy road maps for the business.

Purpose of the Role

Immediate focus will be implementing optimisation of the Rustenburg GEM plant and integration points between Rustenburg Waste to Value, EPOL Feed Mills and Processing plants. Project planning – Prioritizing, scheduling, and allocation of tasks to different discipline of the Sustainability & Waste to Value department, with the assistance of the respective site engineering teams. Looking at project cost control which entails the control of approved budget and subcategories. Strategize group capex focus to drive and fast track resource efficiency projects. Ensure that health and safety requirements as per the Rainbow standard are adhere to with regards to specifying new equipment/processes. Process changes and control documentation with regards to all equipment and plant changes with proven records for audit purposes.

Qualification & Experience

  • A degree in Industrial, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, with 2 years trade experience of which least 2 years in an environmental engineering & focus on operational efficiency.
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, bio-chemical processes, water and effluent treatment systems and renewable energy generation.
  • Exchange information in a clear and concise manner (both written and verbal) to all levels of staff,
  • Work flexible hours and some weekends as required.
  • Leadership skills, leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Dedication and Loyalty to the company.
  • Constantly looking and finding ways to improve resource efficiency and valorising unavoidable waste streams.
  • Recommend solutions bases on rigorous and sound information research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the fixed asset register and ensure that it is updated as per policy and depreciation is in line with group standards.
  • Ensure that all project work in plant is carried out and completed to the highest level of trade-man ship quality and to safe food requirements.
  • Manage appointed contractors to ensure quality and workmanship to Rainbow standard and carry out corrective action when required.
  • Management and oversight of W2V plants – Loss control, asset management, spares utilization and stock holding including administrative duties.
  • Conduct regular project meetings to ensure all disciplines are aligned and that capex targets and dates are met in view of the project schedules.
  • Preparation of all capitalized major maintenance and capital request motivations and supporting documentation for Sustainability & W2V and Resource efficiency related projects.
  • Creating and keeping of an archive on each project for future reference.
  • Handle all investigations around IOD’s to establish all the facts to ensure prevention where possible and to address unacceptable or dangerous behaviour that can lead to injuries.
  • Safety control of contractors.
