KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Provision of efficient and effective digital banking services to customers;
  • Effective internal control procedures over the Digital Revenue Collection system;
  • Ensure enhanced security of digital banking systems, records, and overall banking system security; and
  • Ensure availability of digital banking operating manuals, procedures and instructions to provide effective guidance to the relevant stakeholders;
  • Research on latest digital banking services, processes, products and technologies to ensure that the Bank is kept abreast of the latest developments relating to provision of digital banking services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Banking, or related discipline plus six years post qualification experience.

OR

  • A Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Banking, or related discipline plus eight years post qualification experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements a digitalisation strategy in line with the Bank of Botswana's overall business objectives;
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure the optimum utilisation of the Digital Revenue Collection System;
  • Oversees all digital banking projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget;
  • Provides post-implementation support for all digital banking projects, as well as monitoring to verify compliance with the initial project plan;
  • Monitors and identifies any difficulties or risks that may jeopardise the success of the Digital Revenue Collection System and collaborates with key stakeholders to address the risks;
  • Organises regular meetings with stakeholders and provides status updates on system capabilities and data on system usage;
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to digitalisation and payment processing;
  • Collaborates with the industry stakeholders to ensure the system's technical infrastructure is in line with industry standards and optimised for high-volume transactions in real-time;
  • Ensures the system adheres to industry best practices in data security, including data encryption, access controls, and monitoring;
  • Coordinates with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth transition and adoption of new digitalisation processes;
  • Research on latest digital banking services, processes, and products to ensure that the Bank is kept abreast of the latest technologies.
  • Drafts in-house staff development and training programmes to meet professional and technical requirements of the Unit for consideration by the Deputy Director
  • Guides and works with staff to set performance objectives and ensure delivery, by conducting regular reviews of staff performance against set objectives;
  • Maintains and conducts staff discipline in accordance with laid down procedures and the Bank’s General Conditions of Service;
  • Coordinates the preparation of management reports and ensures implementation of management decisions arising therefrom;
  • Advises the Deputy Director on the Unit’s staffing requirements to ensure high standards of performance and prompt achievement of the Unit and Department’s objectives
  • Prepares annual work programmes for the Unit, and submits it for approval and incorporation into annual departmental work programmes
  • Prepares annual expenditure budgets for the Unit, and submits them for approval and incorporation into annual departmental expenditure budget;
  • Contributes to the formulation, review and implementation of the Departmental strategic plans; and
  • Undertakes such other duties as may be directed from time to time by the Deputy Director/Director.
