1. Main Function of the Role

To accurately process payroll information by capturing, reconciling, and maintaining payroll records, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time while complying with company policies and statutory requirements.

2. Key Performance Areas

Payroll Processing

  • Process payroll accurately and within specified deadlines.
  • Capture new employee information and process employee terminations.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
  • Audit timekeeping records to ensure payroll accuracy.

Payroll Administration

  • Calculate and process payroll deductions, levies, and garnishments.
  • Process payroll payments and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and annual payroll reports.

Financial Administration

  • Assist with payroll reconciliations and month-end payroll processes.
  • Work closely with the Finance department to ensure payroll accuracy.

Employee Support

  • Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and confidentially.
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, Stores, and management regarding payroll matters.

Compliance

  • Ensure payroll processes comply with company policies, payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.

3. Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric/NQF Level 4) (Required)
  • Payroll qualification or payroll-related certification (Advantageous)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll administration or payroll clerk role.
  • Experience processing payroll using computerized payroll systems.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting.
  • Experience working with Sage Premier or similar payroll software.
  • Good knowledge of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory deductions.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
