Role Responsibilities:

β€’ The planning, organising, leading and control of all aspects and duties assigned to you in order to achieve production standards.
β€’ Site visits.
β€’ Standing in for the Senior Site Foreman & Farm Manager when required
β€’ Managing all labour related issues to ensure that all staff members are contributing to the objectives of the company.
β€’ The maintaining of product quality, hygiene and biosecurity standards.
β€’ Managing all resources to the maximum benefit of the company.
β€’ Implementing and managing continuous improvement via the 20 Keys principles.
β€’ Managing Health, safety and risk on your site.

The role will report to the Senior Site Foreman / Farm Manager.
Β 
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
Β 
β€’ Minimum of a grade 12 education but a tertiary education in agriculture would be an added advantage.
β€’ Minimum of 3 years breeder experience.
β€’ Passionate, self-motivated and performance driven.
β€’ Must have good administrative skills and ability to control documents.
β€’ Must be pro-active and be able to work accurately and independently.
β€’ Working hours are irregular and include weekend duties.
β€’ Establish and maintain biosecurity protocols to safeguard flock health and maintain compliance with industry regulations.
β€’ Maintaining the company’s assets and constantly striving to improve results.
β€’ Work efficiently in a team environment with tact and patience.
β€’ Maintaining Risk control, Occupational Health, Environmental control and Animal welfare requirements and standards as per relevant legislation and Astral Standard Operating practices.
β€’ Maintaining production standards in terms of quality and volumes.
β€’ Ensuring the highest product quality/ hygiene standards are always maintained.
β€’ Adhering to Health and Safety requirements and laws.
β€’ Monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve operational targets.
β€’ Implementation and maintenance of the 20 keys Operational Improvement programmes.Β 
β€’ Understanding of biosecurity measures and animal welfare.
β€’ Strong leadership and team-building skills.
β€’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
β€’ Valid Driving licence
β€’ Able to work under pressure
β€’ A pro-active approach to problem solving and operational challenges.
β€’ Adaptable to changing environments.Β 
β€’ Must have a passion for people and animals.
β€’ Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
