Job Purpose
We are seeking a dynamic, proactive, and solutions-driven Yard Supervisor to lead our yard operations in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment. The candidate must be a self-starter who thrives in unstructured settings, challenges the status quo, and is passionate about building robust systems and procedures for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and Improve Systems: Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures to drive efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability in all yard activities.
- Proactive Planning: Take ownership of daily space and truck movement planning, ensuring offloading areas are prepared before trucks arrive and that site flow is optimised.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify daily operational issues, propose and implement solutions, and foster a culture of ongoing improvement within the team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Procurement, and Receiving to coordinate truck arrivals, space allocation, and seamless handovers.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing yard team, ensuring safety, compliance, and excellent customer service.
- Customer Service: Provide hands-on support to customers and internal teams, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.
Requirements
- Completed NSSCO/NSSCAS or Grade 12.
- NQF Level 7 bachelor’s degree in business administration, Electrical Trade Certificate, or similar.
- At least 2 years’ experience in warehousing, logistics, or yard operations.
- Proven ability to establish systems and drive process improvements in an unstructured environment.
- Forklift Operators F5 License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Kerridge ERP is an advantage.
