1. Main Function of the Role

The Repair Shop Assistant is responsible for supporting the workshop team by performing services, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards and company procedures. The role ensures high-quality workmanship, accurate job reporting, and adherence to safety and productivity targets. The Repair Shop Assistant plays a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction through efficient service delivery and professional conduct.


2. Key Performance Areas

  • Perform vehicle servicing, minor and major repairs efficiently and accurately.

  • Diagnose vehicle faults and ensure correct parts are ordered, fitted, and recorded.

  • Accurately complete job cards and repair documentation in line with company standards.

  • Provide continuous progress updates to the Team Leader and Foreman.

  • Ensure all work is completed within allocated timeframes to meet production targets.

  • Follow up on work-in-progress and communicate any delays or additional work required.

  • Maintain workshop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.

  • Participate in after-hours standby duties as required.

  • Train and support trainees or junior staff when necessary.

  • Adhere to company policies, health and safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.


3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12 (Matric).

  • Automotive Mechanics qualification (trade test or equivalent) required.

  • Namibian citizenship essential.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in motor mechanics and auto-electrics.

  • Strong understanding of both technical and administrative aspects of the motor and service industry.

  • Adequate computer literacy for reporting and job documentation.
