Role Purpose:
Responsible for Financial and taxation functions of Rainbow and its subsidiaries/investments. To assume full accountability for all financial aspects of the business, including financial/statutory reporting, strategic and tactical decisions affecting and impacting business finance fundamentals, working capital management, corporate activity relating to mergers/acquisitions and projects, forecasting, tax and legal compliances and budget management across all areas of the
business.
Required Qualifications:
- CA (SA) with 6-8 years post-articles experience
Required Experience:
- 6-8 years post-articles experience in a financial accounting role, including people management and exposure to processing or manufacturing environments.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge
- Financial accounting and taxation principles and practices.
- Strategic and financial planning and execution.
- Highly numerate and able to analyse statistical information and interpret financial data to produce reports which can be understood by non-financial colleagues and third parties.
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management.
- Experience in formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies and procedure.
- SAP FI experience preferable.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive the financial and statutory reporting strategy.
- Monitor banking and working capital management.
- Lead the Income Tax and VAT compliance.
- Develop, implement and maintain business and financial control systems.
- Develop and optimise financial and tax strategy.
- Assume role of Public officer for SARS.
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to the Central and Regional finance teams.
- Oversee consolidation of forecasts, annual budget and 5 year business model process.
- Analyse, report and provide advice on taxation issues, review taxation returns and reports and handle disputes with taxation authorities.
- Review and provide insight on monthly balance sheet and cash flow statements.
- Ensure appropriate external and internal audit arrangements in place and manage audit process to meet deadlines.
- Provide accurate and timeous financial reporting.
- Manage the diesel rebates claims for farming entities with SARS.
- Drive the interim and financial year end reporting requirements and ensure adherence to Group and Remgro deadlines.
- Ensure corporate governance compliance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, Income Tax and VAT Acts, as well as the RCL FOODS Policy and Procedure Manual
- (βPPMβ).

- Manage staff activities, ensuring service levels are met and protocols are adhered to.
- Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives.
- Manage staff leave and general time management issues in line with organisational deliverables and standards.
- Champion staff training and development through the utilisation of available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions in collaboration with national training specialists.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals with subordinates.
- Establish sound staff and labour organising and communication structures and systems.
- Lead the team towards meeting the strategy and targets through regular communication and utilisation of the fullΒ organisational talent management tool set.
- Conduct regular meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon.
