Role Overview
Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is looking for a customer-focused and energetic Retail Deli Assistant to join its Factory Shop team in Standerton, Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will prepare, package, merchandise and sell fresh, frozen and value-added Goldi products while providing excellent customer service and maintaining strict food-safety, hygiene and product-quality standards.

Role Responsibilities
β’Β Provide friendly, efficient customer service and offer accurate product information and advice.
β’Β Prepare, portion, weigh, package, label and display deli products according to approved standards.
β’Β Process customer orders accurately and ensure products are presented professionally.
β’Β Maintain attractive, well-stocked product displays with accurate pricing and labelling.
β’Β Receive, replenish, rotate and control stock using first-in, first-out principles.
β’Β Monitor product freshness, expiry dates, temperatures and quality, and report concerns promptly.
β’Β Maintain food-safety, hygiene and HACCP standards in all food preparation, storage and display areas.
β’Β Complete required food-safety, temperature, traceability and stock-control records accurately.
β’Β Assist with stock counts and help minimise wastage, damages, shrinkage and stock losses.
β’Β Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping duties in the deli and surrounding retail areas.
β’Β Comply with all health, safety, security and Company policies and procedures.
β’Β Assist with promotions and perform other reasonable duties required to support store operations.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge
β’Β Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
β’Β One to two years relevant experience in a retail, supermarket, deli or fast-moving consumer goods environment.
β’Β Food-handling and customer-service experience will be advantageous.
β’Β Basic computer literacy and the ability to complete manual records accurately.
β’Β Experience using hand-held stock scanners, label printers or product traceability systems will be advantageous.
β’Β Basic knowledge of stock rotation, merchandising, food safety and hygiene requirements.
β’Β Food Safety or HACCP, retail, merchandising, customer-service or first-aid training will be advantageous.
β’Β Good communication, teamwork, time-management and customer-service skills.
β’Β Strong attention to detail and an honest, dependable and service-driven approach.
β’Β Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, lift products and work in chilled or frozen retail areas.
β’Β Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays in accordance with operational requirements.
