Role Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Solar Installer is to install, commission, maintain, and repair solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with industry standards, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications. The role is responsible for ensuring that residential, commercial, and industrial solar installations are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards, while delivering reliable renewable energy solutions that meet customer requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Site Assessment: Evaluate installation sites for structural integrity, roof conditions, and optimal sun exposure to maximize energy efficiency.
• Mechanical Installation: Assemble, install, and secure support structures, brackets, and solar modules according to engineering blueprints and building codes.
• Electrical Wiring: Connect photovoltaic panels to electrical grids, inverters, and battery storage systems. Seal equipment against weather elements.
• Testing & Commissioning: Run diagnostic tests on circuits, measure grounding systems, and activate the solar array to verify proper voltage and performance.
• Maintenance: Troubleshoot system faults, perform routine preventative maintenance, and repair or replace defective modules or wiring.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Certifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidate must also be qualified in the field with existing work experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading technical diagrams/blueprints and operating hand and power tools. Computer skills are essential.
• Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at heights (rooftops, ladders), withstand various outdoor weather conditions, and regularly lift/carry equipment weighing 50 lbs (23 kg) or more.
• Licensing: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.
