1. Main Function of the Role
The Salesperson is responsible for driving sales performance, delivering excellent customer service, and providing expert advice on building materials, tools, hardware, electrical, or plumbing products. The role involves engaging with both retail and trade customers, managing product enquiries and quotations, and supporting effective stock availability. The Salesperson contributes to overall business success by building long-term customer relationships, maintaining strong product knowledge, and consistently meeting sales and service targets. This includes leveraging industry connections with electricians, plumbers, contractors, and builders to maximize sales opportunities.

2. Key Performance Areas
- Greet and assist walk-in and trade customers with product information, quotations, and orders.
- Recommend suitable products based on customer needs and project specifications.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, builders, electricians, plumbers, and DIY customers.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and stay updated on industry trends and new products.
- Prepare, follow up, and convert customer quotations into confirmed sales within required timelines.
- Ensure product displays are neat, attractive, and well-stocked according to merchandising standards.
- Liaise with procurement and inventory teams to ensure optimal stock levels and availability.
- Participate in promotions, seasonal campaigns, and upselling initiatives.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and ensure effective resolution.
- Accurately process sales transactions using POS and inventory systems.
- Achieve individual sales targets and contribute to overall branch performance.
- Comply with company policies, operational procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Leverage existing industry connections to drive sales within Electrical and Plumbing sectors.

3. Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum qualification: Grade 12 (minimum 23 points).
- 3β5 yearsβ sales experience, preferably within:
- Building hardware
- Electrical supplies
- Plumbing supplies
- Construction or retail supply industry
- Proven sales experience in Electrical or Plumbing industries is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of electrical or plumbing components relevant to the role.
- Existing industry connections with electricians, plumbers, or contractors are a distinct advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of building materials, tools, hardware, electrical, or plumbing products.
- Experience serving both retail and trade customers.
- Familiarity with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Trade-related background (Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry) is an advantage.
- Physically fit and able to handle hardware materials safely.
