The accountant will oversee and manage the complete accounting functions of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance with financial regulations, and the preparation of detailed financial reports. This role includes managing audit files, tax compliance, and financial administration, while providing insights through management reporting to support business decisions.

Qualifications and knowledge:

  • Valid Grade 12 Certificate
  • Valid Namibian Citizenship
  • Accounting Degree or Diploma (completion of articles is preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Accpac (SAGE X3), and CaseWare software.

Key Performance Areas:

Accounting Functions:

  • Perform all accounting functions comprehensively.
  • Compile and maintain the following:
  • Trial Balance
  • Income Statement
  • Balance Sheet
  • Relevant Ledgers

Audit Files:

  • Prepare audit files for all relevant companies to ensure compliance with auditing standards.

Tax and VAT:

  • Handle VAT returns and tax returns.
  • Prepare and submit provisional tax documentation.
  • Manage import/export tax and withholding tax processes.

Management Reports:

Prepare and submit the following reports:

  • Namfisa Quarterly Return.
  • Namfisa Annual Return.
  • Namfisa Levy Payments.
  • Monthly Management Report.
  • Monthly Income/Expenditure Statement.
  • Stamp duty reports as required

Administration:

  • Ensure prompt and accurate daily and monthly payments.
  • Manage cash flow and provide accurate updates, including intercompany loan balances.
  • Allocate, reconcile, post, and balance bank statements.
  • Conduct debtors and creditors reconciliations.
  • Create and post journals to the General Ledger, including monthly journals.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register and Depreciation schedules.
  • Control and reconcile loan accounts, preference shares, and interest provisions.
  • Manage and reconcile dividend provisions and related balance sheet and expense accounts.
  • Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of all financial documents.
  • Handle any additional tasks as assigned.
