Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Job Costing & Debtors Clerk to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate job costing records, managing debtor accounts, processing invoices, reconciling customer accounts, and supporting the accounting function within a fast-paced operational environment. Experience in an engineering or project-based environment will be advantageous.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Job Costing

  • Capture and maintain accurate job costing information for projects and contracts.
  • Allocate labour, materials, subcontractor, and overhead costs to specific jobs/projects.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and report variances.
  • Assist with preparation of job profitability reports and project cost analysis.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation for job costing is complete and accurate.

Debtors Administration

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and timeously.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts and ensure effective debt collection.
  • Reconcile debtor accounts and resolve account queries promptly.
  • Maintain accurate debtor records and customer account information.
  • Prepare age analysis reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Liaise with customers regarding payment arrangements and account discrepancies.

General Accounting Support

  • Assist with month-end procedures and reconciliations.
  • Capture accounting transactions accurately into the accounting system.
  • Support the finance department with ad hoc administrative and accounting duties.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain proper filing and recordkeeping systems.
 

 

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment.
  • A Diploma in Accounting or related qualification will be advantageous.

 

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience with job costing and debtors administration.
  • Experience using Sage Accounting software will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in an engineering, construction, manufacturing, or project-based environment will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
