Supervisor - Gardening Department  Windhoek

1. Main Function of the Role

The Supervisor - Gardening Department is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency, sales performance, and team management within the Gardening section. This dynamic role ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service, effective merchandising, and achievement of sales targets while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

  1. Shop Readiness & Merchandising:
    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock readiness in the Gardening section.
    • Ensure all products are labeled, priced, and merchandised according to company standards.
  2. Sales & Customer Service:
    • Drive sales by utilizing strong product knowledge and providing excellent customer service.
    • Assist customers with quotations, technical advice, and order follow-ups.
  3. Staff Supervision:
    • Motivate, train, and manage departmental staff to achieve performance targets.
    • Enforce discipline and adherence to company policies.
  4. Stock Control:
    • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels.
    • Identify and address stock shortages or surpluses.
    • Facilitate special orders and direct buyouts as needed.
  5. Telesales & Invoicing:
    • Handle customer inquiries and orders over the phone.
    • Compile and process orders with precision, ensuring invoicing accuracy and compliance.
  6. Floor Walks & PPI Counts:
    • Conduct daily departmental inspections to uphold merchandising and safety standards.
    • Participate in product picking index (PPI) counts to enhance stock accuracy.
  7. Health, Safety & Housekeeping:
    • Implement and monitor adherence to health and safety regulations.
    • Ensure the department is hazard-free and maintains high housekeeping standards.
  8. Asset & General Management:
    • Safeguard departmental assets and report any security or risk concerns.
    • Maintain departmental equipment and infrastructure.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    At least 3 years of retail sales experience, preferably in hardware, building supplies, or FMCG industries.
  • Additional Advantage:
    Familiarity with the Kerridge system.

 

4. Skills and Attributes
