Role Purpose:

Rainbow Chickens is looking for a Maintenance Artisan to join our KZN Agriculture Division. We are looking for a qualified Millwright or Traded Electrician with strong Mechanical and Civil experience to join our team. The successful incumbent should have strong supervisory experience to manage a team and work closely with production team. 

Required Qualifications:

• Traded Millwright or Electrician with strong mechanical and civil experience
• Drivers license - code 8 or 10 (compulsory)

Required Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of post-trade FMCG maintenance experience
• Supervisory Experience
• Previous experience in poultry environment - advantage
• Repair of Agriculture related machinery and equipment
• Fabrication & assembly: Enter printing  drawings, laying out, cutting( flame, plasma), bending, rolling and assembling metal plates, pipes and components for structures, towers, silos , coal heaters/ boilers and tanks.
• Welding and joining: Setting up and operating various welding equipment( SMAW, TIG,MIG etc ) to join  components according to codes and standards, perform all cutting a welding and mechanical works as required by the business.
• Maintenance & Repair: Inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing faulty parts , tubes, valves and fittings , performing quality welding checks and pressure test.
• Rigging and lifting: Setting up rigging  to move heavy parts and materials
• Site safety: working at heights, confined space, maintaining clean work areas and strictly adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Documentation: Completing maintenance records, work orders, inspection checklist and  reports accurately.
• Use of tools & equipment: cutting torches, welders, grinders, hand tools and rigging gears.

Required Knowledge and Skills:​

• Ability to communicate on all levels and manage a team
• Strong physical fitness, hand, eye coordination and ability to work in a challenging environment
• Proficiency in blueprint reading, layout and use of power tools and hand tools
• Knowledge of welding process, materials and quality standard( e.g. .ASME)
• Problem solving skills and team work
• Knowledge and application of disciplinary 
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Ability to work systematically.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
• Report writing and analysis.
• Mentoring apprentices.
• Must be able to work required hours and be available on callouts and standby.

General

• Training and development of maintenance handyman under direct control to artisan level.
• Discipline of maintenance handyman under direct control.
• Daily issuing of certificate of compliance on any machine or equipment where any engineering related work was executed.
• Issue daily job cards and inspect work executed.
•  Daily time sheets.
• Order equipment and spares in terms of the BR and SSR Process.
•  Training and development of all personnel under direct control as per departmental training and development plan.
• Perform standby duties.
