County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, has this opportunity for a qualified and experienced MaintenanceΒ FitterΒ based at the Primary Processing Plant, in Fisantekraal in the Western Cape.

The primary focus of this position is to ensure preventative and routine maintenance and fault-finding on mechanical processing equipment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a completed N3 Mechanical qualification
  • A Β Trade Certificate as a Fitter & Turner

Experience:

  • At least 5 year’s FMCG factory maintenance experience
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance / repair of poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be a distinct advantage
  • Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)

Other requirements:

  • Must have own reliable transport
  • Must be willing to workΒ shifts and work additional hours as required
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Must attend to breakdowns promptly and accuratelyΒ 
  • The incumbent must adhere to health and safety and food safety protocols at all times
  • Understanding of the 20 Keys concept is a great advantage
  • Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure
  • It is essential that the successful candidate be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • General machining work in the workshop
  • Preventative,Β routine maintenance and fault finding on mechanical processing equipment
  • General plant maintenanceΒ 
  • Attending to all unscheduled processing interruptions resulting from breakdowns
  • Installation of processing equipment
  • Manage all resources for the maximum benefit of the company
  • Maintaining and adhering to the 20 Keys / HACCP / Risk Control and apply general housekeeping rules
