Engineer GMR 2.1 : Production Superintendent (Worcester)  Worcester

Purpose:
To oversee production (including warehouse and packer) as well as all related projects. In addition, the role will be the assigned GMR2.1 for the Mill.


Requirements:
• Must be qualified and legally appointed to operate as a GMR 2.1 (non‑negotiable requirement) 
• National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
•  5 to 10 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment at a Supervisory or Middle Management level
• Sound Leadership and Management Skills. Preferably within a Unionised Environment
• Computer literate in terms of MS Suite, OnKey and SAP
• Manufacturing process fault-finding skills
• PLC/SCADA development/maintenance experience will be an added advantage

Main Responsibilities:

Operations Management

• Collaborate with Logistics Controller, Customer Service, and Technical Department for daily production planning and forecasting.
• Prepare downtime reports and conduct investigations.
• Perform capacity planning and bottleneck elimination.
• Ensure Production Supervisors and Team Leaders report on tons per hour and tons delivered (previous day).
• Maintain the cleaning schedule. This includes the site-, silo’s, bins, stores, RM and FG goods.
• Ensure Team Leaders (Warehouse and Packer) report on bags loaded, bags packed, stock count (FG and Pallets), and quality checks.
• Enforce stock rotation (FIFO).
• Report slow-moving or near-expiry stock timeously.
• Drive cost reduction and waste elimination.
• Administer performance management and enforce housekeeping in all areas.
• Report maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager timeously.
• Schedule planned downtime for maintenance.

Management of Safety Health Risk and Quality

• Ensure legislative and industry standards are followed; report non-conformances.
• Adhere to ISO 9000/22000/14000/18000 standards in the Total Integrated Management System.
• Enforce ISO in-process quality controls.

Leadership

• Lead Production Supervisors and Team Leader Warehouse and Packer, to meet KPIs (via communication and training).
• Conduct Tool-Box talks.
• Ensure ISO training is scheduled, recorded, and shared.
• Manage employee relations; take corrective action (per policy/legislation).

Financial Management

• Contribute to cost-cutting initiatives (Production/Warehouse)
• Limit overtime
• Manage leave allocation and expectations through leave roster planning

Sustainability and Environment

• Manage sustainability practices.
• Provide shift- and KPI reports to the Operations Manager.
• Ensure environmental legal compliance.
