Main Function of the Role
To ensure effective presentation, pricing, and organization of building hardware products in-store. The Merchandiser is responsible for maintaining fully stocked shelves, neat product displays, and a clean retail environment in accordance with company standards and operational requirements.
Key Performance Areas
Product Merchandising:
• Pace and stack products neatly on shelves, gondolas, and displays.
• Ensure all products are front-faced, aligned, and merchandised according to company layout plans (planograms).
• Refill shelves throughout the day to maintain full stock availability.
Pricing and Ticketing:
• Accurately price products using approved pricing systems.
• Update price tags as per promotions, markdowns, and price changes.
• Report any pricing discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
Stock Management:
• Monitor stock levels on shelves and report low or out-of-stock items.
• Assist with stock rotation and ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles are applied.
• Coordinate with receiving team for stock replenishment.
Cleaning and Housekeeping:
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned aisles, shelves, and displays.
• Ensure removal of damaged or soiled packaging and maintain overall product presentation standards.
• Assist in daily cleaning routines and emergency cleanup when needed.
Customer Support (as needed):
• Direct customers to product locations or notify staff for further assistance.
• Ensure that shopping areas are clear of hazards and clutter.

Qualifications and Experience
• Experience: 3 - 5 years in a retail or merchandising role (preferably in hardware or DIY sectors). matric with 23 points
Skills and Attributes
• Attention to detail
• Basic numeracy and literacy
• Physical stamina for lifting and shelving products
• Ability to follow layouts and instructions precisely
• Familiarity with handheld scanners, pricing guns, and store communication tools is advantageous
Working Conditions
