Stock Controller - Build It, Rehoboth  Rehoboth

1. Main Function of the Role

The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, monitoring product movement, and investigating discrepancies to ensure the integrity of the company’s inventory system. This role ensures that stock is available for sales and operational purposes, supports smooth receiving and dispatching processes, and upholds compliance with company procedures. The position plays a key role in maintaining efficient stock management, accurate reporting, and supporting the overall profitability of the business.


2. Key Performance Areas

  • Stock Monitoring & Control

    • Monitor and maintain stock levels to ensure product availability.

    • Conduct regular and perpetual stock counts and reconcile variances.

    • Assist with receiving, inspecting, and confirming deliveries against purchase orders.

    • Identify, investigate, and correct negative stock and variances daily.

    • Prepare and participate in six-monthly stock takes.

    • Ensure all stock labeling, pricing, and shelf talkers are correct and maintained.

    • Collaborate with the procurement and sales teams to forecast inventory needs.

    • Report on slow-moving, obsolete, or low-stock items.

  • Administration & Reporting

    • Maintain up-to-date stock documentation for audit purposes.

    • Compile and submit negative stock and variance reports.

    • Identify critical lines for daily or weekly counting and ensure completion.

    • File all documents accurately for easy audit access.

  • Staff Coordination

    • Delegate and oversee stock counts to ensure efficiency and accountability.

    • Foster positive relationships with staff to address and resolve stock-related issues.

    • Engage with team members to ensure collaboration and productivity.

  • Health & Safety Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to company safety policies within all stock and storage areas.

    • Maintain cleanliness, order, and accessibility in stockrooms or yards.

    • Report any health and safety risks or incidents promptly.


3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 (with at least 23 points).

  • Computer literacy is essential; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of IQ Retail or similar stock systems advantageous.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in stock control or inventory management preferred.

  • Experience in a retail, warehouse, or building materials environment advantageous.
