Purpose of the position:

To develop and produce compelling, brand-consistent visual content in support of the RFA’s internal and external communication and marketing initiatives. The Graphic Designer implements the RFA visual identity by designing layouts and graphics for publications, reports, social media platforms, campaigns, signage, presentations, and other communication materials in accordance with approved brand guidelines.

 

Key performance areas:

1.Creative Design Production

  • Develop layouts and graphic designs for reports, brochures, flyers, posters, newsletters, corporate publications, and other communication materials.
  • Ensure all designs align with RFA branding and project briefs.
  • Prepare final artwork files for publication or print.

2. Digital and Social Media Visuals

  • Design graphics for RFA website and social media platforms (banners, infographics, campaign creatives, thumbnails, etc.).
  • Optimise visuals for mobile responsiveness and accessibility standards.
  • Support digital campaigns with appropriate visual assets.

3. Brand Identity Implementation

  • Apply RFA Corporate Identity (CI) Manual across all design outputs.
  • Use approved logos, fonts, colours, and templates consistently.
  • Develop branded templates for internal use (presentations, reports, letters, etc.).
  • Provide technical guidance on correct logo usage to departments when required.

4. Event and Presentation Support

  • Design presentation slides, event backdrops, banners, roll-ups, signage, multimedia screen visuals, and exhibition materials.
  • Collaborate with event coordinators to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Prepare artwork for large-format printing.

5. Print and Production Coordination

  • Prepare final production-ready files for printers and vendors.
  • Assist in liaising with external print suppliers regarding technical specifications.
  • Review and approve print proofs before final production.
  • Ensure colour accuracy, resolution, bleed, and layout compliance.

6. Content Collaboration and Visual Alignment

  • Work closely with the Communication Officer and Marketing Officer to translate written content into visual layouts.
  • Align design outputs with approved messaging and campaign objectives.

7.Content Archiving and File Management

  • Maintain organised digital archives of all visual assets, working files, templates, and final designs.
  • Implement proper version control systems.
  • Ensure secure storage of brand assets and artwork.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or Multimedia Design (NQF Level 6)

 

Experience, Skills and special knowledge requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in graphic design or digital media in a corporate, creative agency, or public sector environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and design for digital and print media will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Driver’s License
