1. Main Function of the Role

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing imported plastic packaging products and related materials to ensure cost-effective procurement, reliable supplier performance, and compliance with quality standards and import regulations.

 

2. Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

• Source and purchase plastic packaging products and related materials.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, discounts, and payment terms with suppliers.
• Manage supplier performance, order tracking, and delivery timelines.
• Ensure optimal stock levels through effective inventory planning and forecasting.
• Coordinate import processes, logistics, and customs documentation.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, company policies, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and purchase orders.
• Support cost reduction and procurement efficiency initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal departments including sales, warehouse, finance, and production.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a buying or procurement role.
• Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or import-based environments (advantageous).
• Experience dealing with international suppliers and imports (preferred).
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with ERP systems (advantageous).
