Product Manager: Automotive - Windhoek  Windhoek

1. Main Function of the Role

The Product Manager - Automotive will be responsible for managing the procurement and sourcing activities of automotive products within CYMOT (Pty) Ltd. This role involves strategic purchasing decisions, supplier negotiations, stock management, and ensuring optimal product availability across the company’s branches. The incumbent will play a key role in shaping the automotive product offering to meet market demands and organizational goals.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities for automotive products, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic aftermarket parts.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure favorable outcomes aligned with company objectives.

  • Monitor exchange rates and market trends to guide informed purchasing and inventory decisions.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and regional branches to ensure product availability and efficient distribution.

  • Utilize ERP systems and stock replenishment tools (e.g., Just Enough) to effectively manage inventory levels and stock replenishment.

  • Create and analyze demand forecasts, sales performance, and inventory data using spreadsheets, graphs, and charts.

  • Identify and resolve supply-related issues promptly to minimize disruptions.

  • Maintain accurate records of supplier agreements and procurement transactions.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and supplier market dynamics to continuously improve sourcing strategies.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of procurement or supply chain experience, preferably within automotive parts/accessories or a related industry.

  • Demonstrable experience in supplier management, contract negotiation, and sourcing within a corporate or supply chain environment.

 

4. Skills and Attributes

  • In-depth knowledge of automotive aftermarket products, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic parts.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends, exchange rates, and inventory needs.

  • Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Proficient in the use of IT applications relevant to procurement and inventory management (e.g., SAGE X3, Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills).

  • Experience with stock replenishment and distribution applications (such as Just Enough).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English (both written and spoken).

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
