1. Main Function of the Role

The Warehouse Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, stock control, and returns, while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across all warehouse processes.

2. Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Receiving Supervision

  • Supervise inbound deliveries and verify goods against purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper documentation, GRNs, and quality checks are completed.
  • Report and record discrepancies or damaged stock.

Warehouse Control

  • Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and stock accuracy.
  • Ensure correct labelling, storage, and FIFO implementation.
  • Manage damaged goods and ensure proper handling or disposal.

Picking Control

  • Plan and prioritize picking activities according to dispatch schedules.
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely order fulfilment.
  • Monitor picking accuracy and reduce errors.

Stock Count & Inventory Accuracy

  • Conduct weekly cycle counts and support full stock takes.
  • Investigate and resolve stock variances.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records across all storage areas.

Claims & Returns Management

  • Verify and process customer claims and returns.
  • Inspect returned goods and match against credit notes.
  • Ensure proper documentation and system updates for all returns.

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Supervise warehouse staff and daily operations.
  • Support training, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 (minimum requirement).
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in warehouse or logistics operations (advantageous).
  • Understanding of inventory control and stock management systems (advantageous).
