PURPOSE
To build and maintain a strong technical foundation that supports the company’s growth in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector. This includes attending to site call-outs and delivering high-quality servicing and repairs of solar products by applying advanced diagnostic technologies and techniques. The role ensures repairs are completed within set timeframes, in line with dealer, brand, and company standards, and that repaired products are returned to customers or service advisors on schedule.
REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 with physical science, mathematics & technology subjects.
• Drivers Licence.
• Tertiary qualification, Degree or Trade Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics) or equivalent.
• Fault finding of inverters, solar charge controllers, BMS based LiON batteries and related solar products.
• 3 years’ experience in designing, installing and troubleshooting solar photovoltaic systems which includes Energy Storage systems.
• Local authority registrations such as with CoW, Wireman’s Licence, NamPower and REDS will be an added advantage.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of Low Voltage AC&DC electrical systems.
• Should have in-depth knowledge of the topologies of solar inverters & LiON batteries.
• The candidate will be required to be 80% workshop based and 20% site based.
• English communication skills, other extra languages will be an added advantage.
KEY RESULT AREAS
• Performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on various types of inverters, solar charge controllers, batteries, and all solar power & storage related items while maintaining company and industry standards and adhering to time constraints.
• Test product compatibility and remote communication across brands.
• Conduct Research & Development (R&D) on technologies to further gain valuable knowledge of the ever-changing environment of renewable energy.
• Key contact with OEM Suppliers for logging faults and chasing warrantee claims.
• Be actively involved in the practical training of clients/installers and salespeople.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with sales staff, clients, and supplier advisors, including thorough management of client expectation.
• Uses manufacturer diagnostic equipment to ensure diagnostics, testing, and repairs are thorough and to highest quality.
• Maintain technical knowledge of solar energy products and enhance your technical ability on new industry development, practices, and technologies.
• Keep detailed records of all work done, repair, replaced parts on each product (on a serial number level).
• Communicates with service managers about parts required, and timeliness of order completion.
• Keeps work area clean, neat, and to company standards, especially to ensure safety of all team members.
