Main Function of the Role
The Cashier will be responsible for processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently, maintaining a balanced cash drawer, and delivering excellent customer service. This role requires high levels of accuracy, punctuality, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be punctual, accurate in handling money, and capable of maintaining high standards of customer care in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Performance Areas

  • Greet customers warmly and assist with inquiries or concerns.
  • Process cash, credit, debit, and other transactions using POS systems.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and reconciliation at the end of each shift.
  • Follow store policies and procedures, especially related to returns, exchanges, and fraud prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Process cash, card, account, and trade credit transactions accurately using the POS system.
  • Ensure correct invoicing and customer account referencing, especially for trade clients.
  • Balance cash drawer and complete daily reconciliation with minimal discrepancies.
  • Work closely with yard staff and the sales team to coordinate order pickups and deliveries.
  • Handle product queries, returns, and exchanges according to company policy.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized counter area.
  • Report any discrepancies, suspicious activities, or process issues to the Branch Manager.
  • Execute tasks that might be given, required, or expected from Management.
  • Assist in store stocktaking as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
