Purpose

The Sales Consultant is responsible for driving sustainable sales growth by managing multiple customer accounts and projects while delivering exceptional customer service throughout the sales process. The role owns revenue targets by identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and providing complete product solutions that meet customer requirements. Working closely with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse and the Tender Department, the incumbent ensures seamless order fulfilment, supports project and tender opportunities, contributes valuable market intelligence, and consistently delivers an outstanding customer experience.

 

Requirements

  • Completed Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Relevant qualification in Sales, Business, Electrical or a related field will be advantageous.
  • 3–5 years' sales experience within the electrical, industrial or technical retail environment.
  • Experience in business development and account management.
  • Experience compiling quotations, Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in ERP/business systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Code B Driver's Licence.

Key Result Areas

  • Drive sustainable sales growth by identifying opportunities within existing accounts while actively securing new customers and expanding the company's revenue base.
  • Take ownership of revenue performance by consistently achieving and exceeding agreed sales targets and key performance indicators.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships through exceptional service, consultative selling and regular customer engagement.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, pricing, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) while supporting customers with tender and project requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement to source products, monitor stock availability, support supplier engagement and ensure customer delivery commitments are achieved.
  • Identify potential tender opportunities and larger customer projects while supporting the Tender Department where required.
  • Gather and analyse market intelligence, competitor activity, pricing trends and customer insights to support strategic sales growth.
  • Support customer account applications by liaising with the Finance Department and ensuring efficient onboarding of new customers.
  • Maintain accurate sales administration through timely invoicing, proof of deliveries, returns processing and effective resolution of customer queries.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by ensuring prompt quotations, efficient order processing and effective coordination with warehouse operations.
  • Participate in stock takes and cycle counts while supporting inventory accuracy and sound housekeeping standards.
  • Uphold the Company's Code of Conduct, Code of Honour and professional standards in every customer interaction.
