1. Main Function of the Role

The Site Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and supervision of all operations at the oil company’s site in Namibia. This includes ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective site operations in line with company objectives, industry regulations, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

 

2. Key Performance Areas

  • Oversee daily plant operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality across all functions.
  • Demonstrate basic technical competency in welding, electrical systems, and mechanical processes to effectively support and guide the team.
  • Plan, allocate, and monitor tasks, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards, maintaining a clean and compliant work environment.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues as they arise, minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Manage maintenance activities, ensuring reliable performance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, fostering accountability, professional development, and teamwork.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control throughout production processes to ensure output meets required standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide clear communication to senior management, including progress reports and incident updates.
  • Lead by example – be firm but fair, committed, and always ready to step in where needed.

 

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in oil and gas site management, logistics terminals, or industrial facility operations.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Sound knowledge of Namibian safety, environmental, and petroleum handling regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in remote or high-risk environments.

 

4. Skills and Attributes

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil storage, pumping systems, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Good understanding of mechanical/electrical systems related to oil and gas equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.

Working Conditions:

Site-based position with potential for extended hours, weekend work, and on-call duties. Exposure to outdoor, industrial, and hazardous environments.

PPE (personal protective equipment) use and strict HSE adherence required.
