Investment Analyst-Local Equities  Gaborone

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Investment Analyst-Local Equities tenable in Gaborone.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for conducting well researched analysis of operational and financial positions of the BSE listed equities to ascertain risk drivers and recommend investment options for inclusion in the Local Equity portfolio.

Key Performance Areas

  • Research on and analyse investment metrics of locally listed investment and produce in-depth reports to motivate for investment decisions. Research extends to any other possible investment idea presented to the team
  • Participate in analyst briefings and conduct face to face meetings with listed company management/executives.
  • Closely monitor capital market developments and news to help the investment process.
  • Propose proxy votes, along with rationales for consideration by the team, in line with Bifm’s Proxy voting policy.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly client’s portfolio reports and distribute the same to relevant parties.
  • Execution of offshore investments (unit trades) and local equity trades

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related Investment Management discipline.
  • Professional qualification or working towards CFA, CAIA, PRM, FRM is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 (one) year post qualification experience in a similar role/s

  • Financial, Analytical and modelling skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of financial statements (both unconsolidated and consolidated) including detailed analysis and interpretation.
  • Teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Able to work as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Self-confident, diligent and highly analytical.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels.
